Distorted Reality

Lost in my own presence and forgotten
How to talk with words I’ve never heard before
I wander here and I touch the light
It scatters on my skin, soulless but full
Of moments no one else could define
Wherever its edge lies down,
Another is created with so much
More than I ever could carry along
But when I close my eyes and feel the dark
It lingers around me, touches me
Lifting me up from this broken surface

Gathered from just two broken souls
And two bleeding hearts trying to mend
Do you know since when reality could bend?

Lost in his thoughts but released
In every way he’s never felt before
He wanders through every passing thought
They scatter around his mind, lost but hopeful
For moments no one else could define
And he lets them enter without any reason,
Trying to find the unknown and unwritten
To lie closer to him than he ever wanted to
But when he closes his mind it moves away
Into the hidden mind of unreality
Lifting him up from this broken surface

Gathered from just two broken souls
And two bleeding hearts trying to mend
Do you know since when reality could bend?

And I’m not trying to keep it all,
Or even trying to sense it all in a way
So I can explain whatever is happening
My words combine themselves with his thoughts
And for once I feel the earth moving towards me
He said he could see the light and I
Already felt the warm embrace of that coming
It stays and lets me breathe in his thoughts, believing
As he mends my words to another sentence
I thought I had forgotten about

Gathered from just two broken souls
And two bleeding hearts trying to mend
Do you know since when reality could bend?
