The River And The Sea
Overshadowed by a light I can never reach,
A moment I will never carry
I still reach out for a chance from time to time
To try to make this all
Just a little bit more confusing
Since the hours don’t fit together
And my minutes scream they have never
Never really tried anything else but
Ticking away precious moments I released
Can I lie in the water for some time?
The river keeps on giving away while I
Seem only to take the wrong parts
But release me in the sea,
I might find more than I ever wanted
Overpowered by a heart I can never have,
A courage I will never possess
I still fight the wars though – in silence
To try to make this soldier
Just a little bit more into a fighter
Nothing seems to last longer than a cold bullet
And whatever is killed within my words
Lies now liquid on my skin to dry
Tearing away precious moments I released
Can I lie in the water for some time?
The river keeps on giving away while I
Seem only to take the old parts
But free me into the sea,
I might find more than I ever wanted
Overflowing with a strength I seemed to own,
A determined thought I had
I still try to mend words with reality
To try to make this all just a bit easier
When pain collides with the dark,
And the light seems just as far to me
It comes closer to my own open heart to release
The strength I’ve been carrying for so long
Holding away precious moments I released
Can I lie in the water for some time?
The river keeps on giving away while I
Seem only to fear the wrong parts
But release me in the sea,
I might find more than I ever wanted
Can I lie in the water for some time?
Released in the waves of forgiveness
And all the parts I’ve never seen
I did find more than I ever wanted
