Another Lost Kingdom (The King Of Shadows)

The king of shadows told me once,
Told me every night how to be not afraid
As he let Time slip out of his hands,
He brought a kiss upon all my fears
To let my heart rest in a silent dark
Where nothing seems to touch the corners
Or hold the sense of any light

As he breathes in and out,
I feel my heart drain itself of fear
But with every fading echo
There is another voicing its presence

The king of shadows never fled before,
But kept his embrace in the dark hours
As I let in a few rays of lost light
He brought a kiss upon all my tears
And never felt the warmth it could give
To let it turn around the embrace he gave
Or hold the sense of any truth

As he speaks to me silently,
I feel my mind drain itself of thoughts
But with every fading echo
There is another voicing its presence

The king of shadows never spoke up,
Though he spoke to me in every waking hour
As he let in the night before I could
Turn this day into hours I could understand
When I close my eyes he makes sure I
Feel the endless comfort he seems to have
As I wander here in the moving night

As he keeps his silence to me,
I feel my words drain of their meaning
But with every fading echo
There is another voicing its presence

The king of shadows holds me near,
Lets me into, underneath his skin
As I seem to form my own final sentence
I know he’ll never finish his line of words
Whispered into the dark, turning into dust
As I linger here in my own created light

As he chooses for my night,
I feel my heart drain itself of darkness
And with every fading echo
There’s a sunrise in my shadow
