The Remaining Truth

Across the river and its embrace,
I wander towards the moving scene
When my heart feels heavy my feet
Leave deeper imprints behind for myself
So I can be sure to find the same old way back
Where truth lies naked and hurts through me
As if there’s nothing in which some comfort will be
Endlessness is the only solid ground you’ll ever have
And as the river washes away the present and the past
The only remaining truth is what’s coming

Even in the shadow of this light, this whisper
This hush of an illusion found in reflections gone again
Even with the heavy footsteps left behind in the dust
Lit up in the remaining sunset I feared
It’ll all feel lighter on this weary heart of mine

Across the mountains and their silence,
I linger over them onto a greater scene
When my mind turns to a weaker kind
It seems to follow the astray lights on these paths
Until the source of all these words get caught in-between
The thoughts will move on, leave their moment behind
Keeping the sane ones there to find their balance
Forgiveness is the only solid ground they’ll ever know
And as the mountains turn to theirs and let me in
The only remaining truth is what’s left behind

Even in the shadow of this hill, this memory
This silent dream of an illusion gone in reflections again
Even with a weaker mind left behind on this trail
Lit up in the remaining sunset I feared
It’ll all feel lighter with this stronger mind of mine

So across the river and the mountain,
Fallen from different heights it still remains as
It ever was and will be again in this light
With a stronger mind the heart feels lighter
To turn these footsteps into a different kind
Gathering the balance from these thoughts again
And as the river crosses the mountain
The only remaining truth is what is here

Even in the shadow of this all, this moment
This ongoing storm of illusions set up against a sky
Even with the courage of a heavy heart in this weak mind
Lit up in the remaining sunset I feared
It’ll all feel lighter through these waves again
